The mission of the YMCA is to put Judeo-Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. The Central Connecticut Coast YMCA Association consists of eleven branches, serving over 24 towns and cities in Connecticut, including Hamden and Ansonia, two towns in the ION bank catchment area. The YMCA's four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility help mold our youth and our communities into stronger, healthier and more productive members of society. Character development is at the heart of the Y's mission, through participation in programs including childcare, youth sports, summer camping, and Youth in Government. Defined as the difference in academic performance between low-income kids and their more privileged peers, the education achievement gap begins early in life for many children. The Y continues to close the gap for low-income children through our school-readiness programs, before and after-school and summer camp programs. With support from partners like ION Bank, the CCCY can continue accomplishing these endeavors, while supporting ALL, regardless of their ability to pay.
